The Artist

The Artist K.C. EvansIn 1976, I decided I'd had enough of training harness horses at Chicago area tracks and tried to find a job. I started working as a sign apprentice for $2 an hour. After six months the shop owner left me in charge and moved South.

After a couple of years, I started my own shop in Plano, Illinois. I operated a one-man commercial sign shop in Plano and Yorkville from 1978 until 1993 when we moved to Colorado.

In Colorado, the romance of the Old West captivated me, and I began to incorporate that spirit into my sign work.

I strive to create art that is both functional and beautiful. Working with the natural beauty of cedar has its own rewards, as it becomes more elegant as it is worked and is exposed to the weather.

I hope we can work together to create a special, lasting cedar wood or plywood sign that you'll be proud to own or give as a unique gift.
